Out of the Mouths of Nurslings

Dee (and Petey), Spring, Texas

Dee from Spring, Texas, shares some of the funny things her nursling, Petey, has told her when nursing is on his mind:

“One of my son’s bedtime delay tactics is to claim he needs to pump.

When I nurse him during the day, he first pokes my belly button like it’s the on button! And if he particularly likes the milk, I get a clapping ovation afterwards.

Oh, he also giggles with anticipation, which is fine at home but when it’s the only sound in church… awkward.

One more: Some of his first words were, ‘Other side?’ He cracks me up!”

Has your child ever said something so clever, endearing, hilarious or simply surprising that you couldn’t help but share it with those around you? Our feature, Out of the Mouths of Nurslings, gives breastfeeding parents a place to share those words with readers around the United States and even the world.

If you’d like to share your memorable moment with readers of the New Beginnings blog, send a brief recap (picture, too, if you’d like!) to Amy at nbeditor@lllusa.org.
