LLL of Iowa

La Leche League is an international, nonprofit, nonsectarian organization dedicated to providing education, information, support, and encouragement to women who want to breastfeed.

Membership in La Leche League USA can be obtained from your local La Leche League Group. Membership fees help to support your local Group, LLL USA, and LLL International. The benefits of membership vary from Group to Group. Ask your LLL Leader how to receive a free electronic copy of New Beginnings.

La Leche League of Des Moines, Iowa

All breastfeeding mothers and mothers-to-be interested in breastfeeding are welcome to come to our meetings or call one of our Leaders for breastfeeding help or information. Babies are always welcome at our meetings.

Meeting Information

The Des Moines Metro Group now meets three times each month:

  * 10:00 a.m. on the second Friday of each month at West Des Moines United Methodist Church, 720 Grand Ave. in West Des Moines. Our meeting space is in the nursery, which is on the second floor.

  * Our toddler group meets on the third Tuesday of each month at 10:00 a.m. at the West Des Moines Christian Church, 4501 Mills Civic Parkway, in the nursery.

  * ANKENY MEETINGS - Ankeny Meetings will be suspended until further notice - the current meeting Leader is on Maternity Leave.

Expectant moms, and mothers of infants and toddlers are welcome to attend our monthly series meetings.

Leader Information

La Leche League Leaders are experienced mothers who have breastfed their own babies and who have been trained and accredited by La Leche League International to help mothers and mothers-to-be with all aspects of breastfeeding. They are available by phone whenever you have breastfeeding questions or concerns.
