La Leche League is an international, nonprofit, nonsectarian organization dedicated to providing education, information, support, and encouragement to women who want to breastfeed.
Membership in La Leche League International is $40 for one year. Membership fees help to support your local Group and the international organization. The benefits of membership include a one-year subscription to NEW BEGINNINGS magazine.
Items for Sale: Slings are available for sale at the Metro Morning and Metro Evening Group meetings. A variety of books are available at the Metro Morning Group meetings.
La Leche League of Des Moines, Iowa
All breastfeeding mothers and mothers-to-be interested in breastfeeding are welcome to come to our meetings or call one of our Leaders for breastfeeding help or information. Babies are always welcome at our meetings.
Meeting Information
The Des Moines Metro Group meets twice each month:
* 10:00 a.m. on the second Friday of each month at West Des Moines United Methodist Church at 8th and Grand in West Des Moines.
* 7:00 p.m. on the first Thursday of each month at Ashworth Road Baptist Church, 5300 Ashworth Road, in West Des Moines.
Expectant moms, and mothers of infants and toddlers are welcome to attend our monthly series meetings. Special breakout sessions for toddler moms will be held during the regular monthly meetings in March, June, September, and December.
Leader Information
La Leche League Leaders are experienced mothers who have breastfed their own babies and who have been trained and accredited by La Leche League International to help mothers and mothers-to-be with all aspects of breastfeeding. They are available by phone whenever you have breastfeeding questions or concerns.
