Our Group held a basket drawing at a local festival. The most popular item in our basket drawing was a basket overflowing with children’s books (we wrapped the filled basket in cellophane and tied it up with lots of pretty curling ribbon to discourage any books from “walking away”).

Beginning several months before the basket drawing was held, we asked the moms attending each monthly series meeting to donate a new children’s book (or two!) to this basket. We had a wonderful variety of books, and this basket alone brought in more than $150 in drawing tickets sales. That was an easy fundraiser! The hardest part was finding a basket big enough for all the wonderful books!

We also found that MANY of the moms attending our group had baskets at home they were willing to donate. That saved us from having to buy baskets to put the donated items into. And having the items in baskets covered in shrink wrap or cellophane and decorated with curling ribbon made everything look more special and “festive.”
