La Leche League of Central Aurora AM, Colorado

All women interested in breastfeeding are welcome to come to our meetings or call one of our Leaders for breastfeeding help or information. Our meetings rotate through a series of topics, each focusing on a different aspect of breastfeeding. We always allow time at our meetings to address any questions or concerns, whether or not they relate to the topic for that month. Babies and children are welcome at all our meetings. We encourage pregnant mothers-to-be to attend our meetings even before their baby is born.

Meeting Information
One of the strengths of La Leche League meetings is the diversity of the mothers in attendance. Mothers have different backgrounds and different socioeconomic and family situations, yet we all share the desire to breastfeed our babies. We respect the experiences that all mothers bring. La Leche League believes that mothers know their own babies best; you are the expert on your family.

Meeting Schedule:
Our meetings are held on the third Monday of every month at 10 AM. Please feel free to phone a Leader to confirm meeting dates and locations.

Meeting #1: The Advantages of Breastfeeding
(January, May, September)

Meeting #2: The Baby Arrives: The Family and the Breastfed Baby (February, June, October)

Meeting #3: The Art of Breastfeeding & Avoiding Difficulties
(March, July, November)

Meeting #4: Breastfeeding and Beyond: Nutrition and Weaning
(April, August, December)

Location: We meet in the Youth Room directly inside the main entrance of the Burns United Methodist Church located at 1095 Newark St. in Aurora. We are not affiliated with the church except for their donation of the space for our meetings.

Accommodations: The meeting room is large and includes a toy collection with toys safe for infants and toddlers. Snacks and refreshments are provided at each meeting.

Our member library boasts over 50 titles on all kinds of parenting issues and including written materials in Spanish. We also carry information sheets on specific breastfeeding situations.

Other Meetings : *New for 2008* Enrichment Meetings the first Monday of the month, 10 am, same location. Our focus in Enrichment Meetings will be wider than breastfeeding alone so we can go into greater depth on subjects related to mothering & parenting. Some ideas for our future Enrichment Meetings are Nighttime Parenting, Journaling, and Gardening. We are open to your suggestions on meeting topics.

Spring Dance
Put on your dancing shoes and dance the night away with your sweethearts while enjoying the company of other breastfeeding families. All children, fathers and partners welcome!

June- World Breastfeeding Week Celebration
Enjoy a family fun day with LLL! Bring your family to celebrate breastfeeding, raise awareness about breastfeeding and provide financial support to LLL's continuing efforts to help mothers breastfeed. By participating in this event, we not only make a difference in the lives and health of mothers and babies around the world, but also in the quality of the world in which we live. World Breastfeeding Week events generate positive publicity for breastfeeding and the necessary funds to encourage and support breastfeeding.

July- Family Potluck
Bring your family and a potluck contribution to a park for an afternoon or evening of fun and play.

September - Yard Sale
Donate items and/or your time to help use raise funds for our Group, even as we de-clutter our homes. Or, just come by and find some great items at low prices!

October - MAKIT Memory Plates
Come make artwork that lasts a lifetime. Bring your creative spirit and photos of your children and family to create MAKIT plates and bowls. All supplies provided. The plates and bowls make great gifts and will be ready in time for the holiday season.

Leader Information
La Leche League Leaders are experienced mothers who have breastfed their own babies and who have been trained and accredited by La Leche League International to help mothers and mothers-to-be with all aspects of breastfeeding. We are available by phone whenever you have breastfeeding questions or concerns.
